Arrival & directionsοΌ
Check-in is from 4:00pm. Chalet 185 is at Sandown Bay Holiday Centre, Yaverland Road, Sandown, PO36 8QR. Follow the red arrows on the site plan to the chalet. Access codes are sent separately to confirmed guests.
WiβFi & entertainmentοΌ
WiβFi details are displayed inside the chalet. Please sign out of personal streaming accounts before leaving.
Heating & AlexaοΌ
The heaters are connected to Wi-Fi and have preset schedules and settings. Please do not unplug them or switch them off at the wall.
During warmer/summer months the heaters may be OFF, but the display will still show the current room temperature. A temperature showing on the display does not mean the heater is switched on or heating.
If a heater is unplugged or switched off at the wall, its Wi-Fi connection, schedules or settings may be disrupted and need resetting. If a technician is required to attend as a result, the cost may be chargeable to the guest.
Alexa voice commands
Use Alexa to control the heating rather than switching the heaters off at the wall:
- βAlexa, turn all the heaters on.β
- βAlexa, turn all the heaters off.β
- βAlexa, turn on the living room heating to 20 degrees.β
- βAlexa, turn on bedroom 1 heating to 21 degrees.β
- βAlexa, turn on bedroom 2 heating to 19 degrees.β
- βAlexa, turn up the heating.β
- βAlexa, turn down the heating.β
The wall display can continue to show the room temperature even when the heater itself is off.
Kitchen & appliancesοΌ
The chalet has the usual kitchen appliances. Please note there is no dishwasher or washing machine, as this is short-stay self-catering accommodation. Please contact us if anything is not working as expected.
Hot waterοΌ
Please open the hot water taps fully when using them. If they are not opened fully, the hot-water unit in the kitchen can trip and you may lose hot water.
If the unit trips, please contact us for help. For safety, guests should not remove the unit cover or attempt an electrical reset themselves.
Outdoor equipment & BBQοΌ
BBQs are not allowed outside the chalet. BBQs may be used on the beach. Please clear away all rubbish afterwards and leave the beach clean.
Outdoor chairs and equipment should be returned to the chalet after use and must not be left unattended.
Pets & house rulesοΌ
Dogs are welcome where agreed. No smoking or vaping inside. Quiet hours are 10pmβ8am. Please report accidental damage.

Local area & tidesοΌ
Enjoy Sandown Bay, Yaverland Beach and the beautiful coastal walks nearby. At high tide there can be very little beach at Yaverland, so itβs worth checking the tide before setting off on a longer walk.
β»οΈ Recycling bins
There are two convenient recycling points close to Chalet 185:
- Turn right as you leave the chalet and continue straight ahead for approximately 50 metres. The recycling bins are inside a wooden enclosure.
- Alternatively, as you walk away from the chalet towards the cliff, there is another recycling point about halfway along on the right-hand side, between the chalet and the cliff.
Please use the recycling bins where possible and dispose of all rubbish before checkout.
πΏ Bathroom & Drainage β Important
Please also do not wash sand off in the shower. Sand can build up in the waste pipe and cause a blockage. Please remove as much sand as possible before entering the chalet.
If a blockage is caused by wet wipes, sand or misuse and a plumber is required, the cost of the call-out and repair may be charged to the guest.
β οΈ Electric Vehicle Charging β Strictly Prohibited
There is no authorised EV charging point at the property. Guests must not use the chalet's internal or external sockets, extension leads or any other part of the electrical installation to charge an electric vehicle.
Charging an electric vehicle from the chalet without prior written permission is a serious breach of the accommodation rules and may result in your stay being terminated. Any additional electricity costs, damage or other costs resulting from unauthorised charging may also be charged to the guest.
Please use an authorised public EV charging point instead.
π Before you leave
Checkout is by 10:00am. Before leaving, please:
- Empty all bins and take all rubbish to the designated refuse area.
- Remove all food from the fridge and dispose of it.
- Strip the used beds and place the used bed sheets and pillowcases in bin liners.
- Leave the heater plugs switched on β do not unplug or switch them off at the wall.
- Turn off the lights.
- Return furniture and other items to their original positions.
- Check all windows and doors are closed and secure.
- Lock the chalet.
- Place the keys in the external key box, close it securely and scramble the code afterwards.
